Job Description

The Role: Systems Engineer / Administrator
Location: Oxfordshire
Package: Circa £50,000 with Benefits

Overview:

We are looking for an Opensource bias systems engineer / administrator to join one of the UK`s fastest growing technology companies.

As a systems engineer, you`ll be joining a small technical team using methodologies such as source code management with git & paired programming.

The key objective of the team is delivering reliable and tested systems for internal infrastructure and business systems.

This is going to be a constantly changing environment due to the rapid growth of the business, so if you are looking for a position that will test your all round skills and allow you full project life cycle experience - then this could be for you.

The overall function of this team is both the maintenance of existing systems, but also to ensure that the enterprise systems / architecture is scalable and in line to perform with the continued expansion of the business.

Who are you?

An all round systems engineer, ideally from an ISP or with experience of working within a rapidly expanding technology company.

You`ll enjoy working in a think on your feet, project delivery environment and will be able to show us the personality that comes with being an enthusiastic all rounder, and someone that is both a natural problem solver and an engineer that looks to suggest ideas and innovation to the business.

In return, you`ll get the chance to work on a range of cutting edge technologies within a company that rewards & advances on achievement, rather than by time served in the business.

Technology wise, it`s a varied environment but we`d be interested to hear from you if you can tick a few of these boxes: Linux / UNIX, Centos, Debian, Ubuntu, DHCP/ DNS, Puppet, Chef, Subversion & PostgreSQL.

What will be looking for you to do?

* Provide systems support for a pending IPv6 rollout.
* You`ll work with teams across the Technology department to design and implement new physical and virtual infrastructure.
* Provide internal support for core systems including DHCP, DNS and NTP services
* Manage and maintain existing Linux based machines, including management of security patches, distribution upgrades, and configuration management systems/code bases
* Manage and improve Linux based systems integration with business systems, such as integration between DHCP/DNS servers and our customer provisioning system
* Assist in the deployment and enhancement of monitoring systems for core infrastructure, applications and the access network elements being built at the moment.
* Provide support for internal database platforms and systems services, primarily PostgreSQL/PostGIS applications
