Job Description

The Role: Cisco Solutions Consultant (Enterprise LAN/WAN Networks)
Location: Glasgow.
Package: £50-70,000 basic plus 15% KPI driven bonus, pension, private health & other flexible benefits

The Opportunity:

We are looking for a customer facing Cisco solutions design consultant to work for a household name telecommunications company.

Working as part of a national team, this is a varied role that will be fundamentally based on your detailed Cisco data network skills, but it`s not just that technology knowledge that we`ll be looking for - as a Solutions Designer, you`ll own the designs from pre-sales through to go live so you`ll gain the variation of working in a role, but will remain on the cutting edge of technology and you`ll work through the entire project deployment life cycle to design the initial solution (Both high level and also detailed), make changes and then take the lead on deployment.

What will you own?
You`ll lead the technical solution, initially documenting and agreeing customer designs and process considerations, assessing the technical risk on a per project basis. The further varied nature of the role comes from supporting product management, engaging with vendors and leading business-wide change initiatives as required.

In short, you`ll own the customer requirement through key parts of the project life cycle so you`ll be the go-to contact for customer requirements, through design, installation and to the point of their first bill.

These are enterprise level LAN/WAN customer solutions with tier one customers in both the public and private sector.

Your background:

These roles are challenging and varied, and you`ll display aspects of pre-sales, solutions design, service delivery, and technical engineering.

The positions will suit a professional that comes from a technical background, and as a Cisco gold partner, Cisco data networks (L1, L2 and L3 and ideally holding R&S CCNP) and large scale LAN/ WAN enterprise solutions are assumed.

It`s a data bias role, but if you have exposure to voice, then great.

Ideally you`ll have worked for a Telco, ISP or systems integrator but we are open minded on this.

Experience in responding to complex, high value, major bids based on applicable technologies and solutions is essential and as mentioned, you`ll have had strong experience in a customer facing, solution positioning, Pre Sales environment and you`ll be signing off initial customer design proposals, and any subsequent design changes.

It`s not just a pure technical position so you`ll need the personality to match. This is a solutions architect level role and you`ll engage with the customer, and also with stakeholders around the business, so you`ll be dealing with both technical and non technical colleagues so need the powers of persuasion to encourage them to put what you need on the top of their list of priorities.

The Company:

National telecommunications company with a market leading reputation for working environment, training and development prospects. In our experience, one of the few companies that actually live up to their mission statement and while it`s a hard working, fast moving environment they try to not take themselves too seriously so you`ll need to bring a sense of humour alongside your technical knowledge.

Benefits package is flexible but includes bonus of upto 15% of salary, excellent pension scheme, private healthcare and a list of other things to choose from

Role is based on a business park on the outskirts of Glasgow, good access on both public transport and via the road network with ample, secure car parking.
