The Opportunity
An excellent opportunity for an IT Support Technician has arose within one of the UK's leading online electrical retailers, who will provide training and an excellent platform for career progression.

The Role
The role of the IT Support Technician is to provide technical expertise to circa 2000 internal users in order to effectively administer and maintain the internal computer and communication network of the company
The IT Support Technician is to achieve the department objectives in line with the corporate strategy and vision for which the job holder is directly responsible, and continuously improve performance.

Duties and Responsibilities
The IT Support Technician will;

*Monitor and maintain over 1000 computer systems in a Windows 2003/2008/2012 server domain using Windows 7/8 operating systems.
*Remotely support sales consultants in a competitive sales environment to protect company revenue and reputation.
*Deliver excellent customer service skills at all times and work well under pressure.
*Create back-ups of key computer systems (not servers) and data.
*Install and configure company desktops.
*Physical maintenance of Desktop infrastructure.
*Establish accounts for new users / employees, supporting user accounts across various applications.
*Diagnose and take measures to solve hardware and software faults.
*Offer technical expertise in regards to PC troubleshooting, server (basic) and network (basic) problems.
*Create and maintain support documentation for end users and procedural documentation for other technicians.
*Adhere to stated policies and procedures regarding health and safety in the workplace.
*Adhere to procedures regarding the proper use and care of equipment and materials associated with the role.
*Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge in order to effectively perform the role.

The Candidate
The ideal IT Support Technician will;

Credentials and Experience
Previous experience in such a role is must have minimum 1year +

Technical
MCP and/or MCTS/MCITP certified or equivalent experience
Desktop/Laptop software and Hardware fault finding skills.
Competence with Microsoft Office and its relevant functions.
TCP/IP Networking (basics)
Windows 7 / 8 onwards
Firefox & Internet Explorer, Chrome technical support
Active Directory, DNS and Windows Server 2003/2008/2012 repair and fault finding (basics).
Some UNIX experience would be advantageous.
