2nd/3rd Line IT Support Technician (MS Server)
Guernsey
£35-45k, + Holiday/Callout/Mon - Fri 37.5hrs/Heath scheme/Petrol

The Opportunity

Have you ever considered relocating to one of the UK's most picturesque best kept secrets which also happens to be a tax haven? One of the largest IT services companies operating between Guernsey and Jersey are looking for an experienced IT support technician to be based out of their Guernsey office. You'll have the opportunity to work with some of the biggest names in the technology and finance industries providing 3rd party support, for a company willing to train you on a number of external technical qualifications.

The Role

Within the role you'll look after providing 2nd/3rd line support to 3rd party companies so you`ll be a Microsoft technology stack support all-rounder that ideally also has some networking exposure. You'll join a team of 4 in Guernsey and will also be supported by 10+ in Jersey. You'll be expected to provide technical support on Desktop, server, phone systems and network infrastructure issues as well as supervising 1st line technicians to review performance and provide technical advice.

You'll report into the IT Support Manager Dave who has been with the company over 15years who will be working closely with you to help you through professional training and develop you further.

You'll be working with clients such as HP/Unisys/Dell/Netapp/EMC.


Requirements

* Desktop, server, phone system and network infrastructure support
* Provision of mentoring and documentation to further develop 1st Line support capabilities
* Remote troubleshooting and ticket resolution
* Provision of Network Administration support including the management of User accounts, Groups, Printers, Network Shares and NTFS file permissions. Configuration of new/existing servers, Active directory and Exchange maintenance.
* Hardware and software installations, support and maintenance and desktop deployments
* Review performance of 1st Line Technicians and liaise with the IT Service Desk Manager to recommend training and development opportunities as well as process improvements
* Ensure work is completed in line with KPI targets and defined SLAs
* Out-of-hours' work depending on the Business' operational needs
* Occasional travel between sites when required
* Previous experience and proven technical knowledge of Microsoft client and Server applications within a domain environment (Windows Server 2003, 2008 R2 or 2012 R2, Exchange, Windows XP/7)
Exposure to TCP/IP based networks and working in a LINUX environment would be good, but training will be given above and beyond your core Microsoft technology stack experience.
