We are looking to recruit a principle or senior, capacity planner within the Core Data Planning group which is responsible for the capacity and performance management of the public data network and key internet services. The ideal candidate for this role will have worked in a previous capacity planning, data planning or data analysis position, ideally within the telecommunications or internet sector.


Job Description

Our client is a national communications company, based in Hook. We are looking to recruit a principle or senior, capacity planner within the Core Data Planning group which is responsible for the capacity and performance management of the public data network and key Internet services.

The ideal candidate for this role will have worked in a previous capacity planning, data planning or data analysis position, ideally within the telecommunications or Internet sector.

This position will be working as a lead capacity planner in a team that will focus on technology such as servers, DNS and DHCP so a technical understanding in this area would be of benefit.

Perhaps the role could suit a candidate from a technical / operational background who has since moved into a planning or analysis style position?

Required Experience

· Expertise in data manipulation or planning or analysis and development, generation of management reporting based on data sets
· Good influencing and communication skills
· Ability to recognise risks and issues and develop mitigating actions
· Supplier management experience
· Good Excel/SQL/VB skills

Knowledge of typical Internet protocols would be beneficial.

Overview (Team):

·Ensure network infrastructure, systems and service capacity monitoring is established, standards identified and information recorded to provide accurate information for the capacity management process.

· Responsible for ensuring cost effective, appropriate infrastructure and service capacity is available to meet the required levels of service whilst ensuring existing capacity is optimised and the life-cycle of the infrastructure is effectively managed within the bounds of the capital expenditure programme.
· Internet Services/Systems include DHCP, DNS, RADIUS, Messaging etc
· Ensure Internet services/systems infrastructure service capacity monitoring is established to the defined standards, performance indicators are documented and information is recorded to provide accurate reporting for the capacity management process
· Support the planning assessment of the impact of utilisation, business forecasts, new technologies and products to determine infrastructure and capacity requirements and predict effect on systems performance levels

· Produce regular input to management reports that highlight the service performance and current usage of resources, trends, forecasts and issues
· Create and maintain individual and consolidated capacity management plans and provide timely inputs to trigger the build, change or cease processes
· Ensure an accurate infrastructure life-cycle status is maintained and deliver plans that optimise service performance and cost throughout all life-cycle stages
· To follow and apply the Core Data Planning Process to Internet systems..
· The focus of this role is to provide the capacity and life cycle management functions for public facing Internet services. These include DHCP, DNS, RADIUS, Messaging etc. Some 30 different systems split across multiple sites.
· A key part of the role is to act as the team lead in all matters relating to Internet systems and to liaise with other teams within the company, internal customers and external suppliers.
