Opportunity
We are looking for a Data Centre Hardware Engineer to carry out work in a data centre for a large financial Institution client on a long term rolling basis. Candidates will have to go through clearance checks both financial and Criminal record checks, so can't have CCJ or Bankruptcy history. CRB Disclosure Scotland check is carried out

The role
The Data Centre Hardware Engineer workload consists of:-

*Physical hardware installation for all customers set up devices.
*Removal of hardware devices to be moved in and/or between Data Centres
*Hardware configuration
*OS installation
*Hardware parts installation / replacement for fault support and upgrades
*Connection of power cables and power up of devices
*Maintenance and repair for devices
*Maintenance and repair for legacy devices that are not on support
*Hardware diagnosis and repair (based on hot spare stock)
*Hardware warning alert management and reporting
*Hardware parts installation / replacement for fault support and upgrades
*Firmware installation and updates.
*Maintenance of firmware levels on IBM, HP, Dell or Huawei Equipment
*Hardware decommission, physical un-rack
*Recycling of parts/devices
*Removal of parts for secure disposal e.g. disks
*Recording configuration information of devices for re-use
*Power up / down of devices
*Adherence to customer internal policies and completion of documentation
*IPatch templates
*Remedy templates - for service and change management
*Aperture information
*Create updated documentation (user guides, processes€¦)
*Stock Management for spare parts and devices maintained
*Labelling devices
*Power up / down of devices
*Timely response to information requests
*Remote hands assistance

The Candidate
The ideal Data Centre Hardware Engineer will:

Be Experienced in the use of ticket/change software such as Remedy.
Have Strong knowledge of servers (HP, Dell, IBM)
Experience of working within a live Data Centres environments
Ability to manage own time efficiently when solo working.
Demonstrate good communication skills with employees, contractors, suppliers and customers.
Possess current Driving License
Must be able to pass a security check

The Data Centre Hardware Engineer will work for our client who are on the forefront of network infrastructure design, installation and support services for over 25 years. They are well established in a wide range of market sectors which includes Transport, Telecoms, Government, IT, Finance, Retail and Healthcare with a workforce of over 250 industry professionals. . This particular contract is working in a datacentre for a large well known financial Institute.
