Job Description

Job Title: 2nd Line Network / Support Administrator
Location: Manchester City Centre
Salary - Circa £27,000

Job Role:
Reporting to the IT Manager, the Network Support Administrator will work as part of the IT team assisting in the running of the IT systems, providing server and desktop support to 170 users over 2 sites. As part of a small team, you must be comfortable working across all levels of IT, specifically assisting with 1st line support as part of your daily duties.

This job calls for a technical all rounder, with commercial experience of providing Microsoft Server and Desktop Support along with having a good level of networking skills.

This is working in a legal / professional services background so any experience of working within Legal IT would be an advantage but this is certainly not essential.

Key Responsibilities:
*Daily monitoring, support and maintenance of the server estate
*Liaising with 3rd party contractors to resolve issues which affect systems or databases.
* 2nd/3rd line problem resolution
*Ticket handling, prioritisation and allocation
*Support and mentoring of 1st line support staff, providing cover and assisting with 1st line support helpdesk and telephone enquiries as required
*Configuration and deployment of new hardware including servers, desktops, PC's, scanners, and printers
*Configuration and support of both server and endpoint applications
*Training of staff in new IT procedures
*Handling of ad-hoc projects as required
*Documentation of procedures and development of IT knowledgebase

Technical Skills:

*Assumed 2nd line experience within a Windows Server operating system environment supporting:
*MS Exchange 2010
*MS Hyper-V
* Windows Server 2003/2008/2012
*MS SQL Server 2005/2008/2012
*MS Sharepoint
*Blackberry Server o Advanced knowledge of Active Directory and TCP/IP networking

* Advanced knowledge of DNS, DHCP, Sites & Services, SSL, LDAP, PowerShell.

*Advanced knowledge and experience of Server Hardware Architectures and RAID
*Ability to work unsupervised but also as part of a team
*Polite telephone manner
*Confident in dealing with end users
*Positive and flexible attitude
*Happy working across all levels of IT, specifically assisting with 1st line support as part of your daily duties
