National Data Forecasting & Planning Manager (Telecoms Networks)
Location: Flexible - Liverpool, Manchester, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Sheffield, Reading

Overview:

To build, maintain and ensure accuracy and consistency of Resource Planning model for Network and Business Operations through the design, development and ownership of Install & Service Demand Forecasts and Resource Planning Models, Tools and Reporting. This is leading an analysis function responsible for the forecasting and planning of a telecoms network engineering function.

Telecoms experience an advantage, but not essential. Ideally you should come from a field operations style planning environment but again, happy to hear from strong leaders within the data analysis and forecasting field that can apply these skills to a new sector.

You should have the blend of hands on reporting skills - typically using Microsoft Excel (VBA) and MS Access but any exposure to SQL would be seen as an advantage, along with the leadership skills required to lead a team of data planning analysts.

Key Accountabilities

*Responsible for producing accurate forecasts that in turn generate accurate resource requirements - at the lowest cost and highest return for the company. Is engineering availability being best utilised?
*Responsibility for the medium & long term Planning Model for Consumer Install & Service Operations for business customers.
*Lead and manage a team of people responsible for the update and management of Demand Forecasts and design and maintenance of Resource Planning Tools.
*Work with the Field and Area Operations Managers to ensure that usability of the Planning Model is simple and effective and that developments are made in accordance with their requirements.
*Work with key stakeholders across Telecoms Engineering business streams to understand business priorities and interrogate the accuracy of Sales and Project driven Forecasts.
*Monitor assumptions & actual results against forecast/budget.
*Work with the project teams across Network & Business Operations to ensure that relevant project activity is captured within the model.
*Accurately complete and distribute forecasts within service level agreements.
*Develop and enhance the quality and publication of Management Information to the Management teams across Network & Business Operations

Essential Knowledge, Experience and Skills

*Considerable experience in Forecasting, Data Analysis & Resource Planning.
*Excellence in MS Excel, including ability to create advanced formulas and VBA Macros.
*Experience of MS Access and Report Automation would also be advantageous.
*Experience of MS SQL and / or SAS within a reporting environment an advantage
*Proven knowledge & understanding of forecasting variables within demand and capacity.
*Developed and proven influencing skills required in the support, co-ordination and management of Stakeholders and Team Members.
*Analytical skills to evaluate performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
*Demonstrable experience of creation and detailed communication of accurate Demand & Capacity Forecasts.
*Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills.
*Self-Motivated and confident in developing the role with minimal supervision.
*The ability to manage workloads effectively, prioritisation of tasks and publication of reporting in line with required deadlines.
*Experience or aptitude for leadership and management of direct reports and peer group. Reports are likely to be on a remote basis.
