Head of SME Sales
Location: Manchester

Overview:
This role will be a key appointment in the ongoing strategy of this blue chip companies SMB sales revenue stream, and based from Manchester, you are responsible for the direct / indirect sales activities of all company products and services covering both retail and distribution channels.

The Business Sales group sell products and services directly to service providers and business markets business customers. Also focused on developing existing customer accounts for higher penetration through customer relationship management activities.

The key challenge for this role is coaching and development - there has been a change in recruitment process which means that moving forward, much of the recruitment from this point is going to involve sales bias graduates being brought into the business and moulded / trained into this companies way of doing things.

On that basis, this is a role for a senior sales figure, with a proven track record in building large scale, graduate calibre desk based sales team that will be focusing on SME level business customer markets. The company is a technology business and while experience in that sector would be beneficial, it is not strictly essential and we are more concerned with the ability of the head of department to drive this group towards agreed targets, than in depth technical knowledge of the IT and telecoms sector.

Role Purpose
*To create the best SMB Sales team in the Industry.
*To deliver agreed sales targets, key performance indicators and business objectives.
*To ensure the sales pipeline is maintained at a level to achieve all targets set
*To ensure that team members perform to a high standard in accordance with the overall Desk, BP & Online Division's strategic direction, company policy, brand values & good practice at all times
*To effectively lead, direct & coach a team of managers, driving high levels of performance and behaviour to achieve first class customer service delivering growth
*To ensure all figures are within +/-5% of the initial commitment by the end of the month
*To maintain headcount is within budget and also at a consistent level to ensure all targets are met
*To lead the Transformation to an online self serve model for SMB Clients
*To lead a "Loyalty" function that protects existing revenues within the SMB base

Key Accountabilities
*To establish and manage relationships with customers, peers, and cross functional colleagues, driving improvements in customer satisfaction and profitable revenue growth.
*You will have contact with most areas in the Business Division to support the Department including:- Business and Partner Markets & Public Sector Sales/ Business Customer Services/ Finance/ Strategy & Marketing
*You will also require relationships with key internal/external recruitment teams to ensure the most superior people are brought in for the Department
*You will need to develop relationships with HOD Level & above
*Relationships with Senior management team are ever increasingly important

Desirable Knowledge, Experience and Skills
*Demonstrable experience of successful, relevant call centre / desk based sales function, sales management
*Educated to degree level or equivalent (preferable but not essential)
*Successful track record of building teams from scratch and acting as inspirational leader
*Strong leadership & communication essential coupled with interpersonal skills
*Experience to work with all levels in a business to business environment
*Demonstrable experience of leading a management team
