Job Description

PHP Developer (LAMP)

Location Manchester
Hours Full Time
Salary £40,000 - £45000 per annum (based on experience)

Job Summary

This is a high-level position.
We're looking for somebody who has at least 3+ years of web development experience, with demonstrable, live systems in a commercial field.
We are seeking a talented PHP/LAMP web developer to build customer-facing websites and web-based internal systems.

Job Responsibilities

The candidate will be required to work on parts of large scale systems, manage time effectively to meet deadlines and targets.
The Ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude, passion for technology, extensive PHP5/MySQL development experience, and will be able to get up to speed quickly.
We require someone with experience for this role in a production environment, preferably commercial systems. Front end skills are required, using HTML5 and Responsive design using CSS3 media queries, as well as backend design and development using the Model-View-Controller methodologies.

The systems are built on a combination of CodeIgniter, combined with a custom version of Datamapper. The systems are used to develop custom solutions to particular problems, and hence analytical thinking, taking into account user experience, platform limitations and the level of user knowledge is vitally important.
The candidate will also be required to liaise with the Marketing team and SEO/PPC agency to ensure optimisation and cohesion.
The successful candidate will manage two other team members: entry-level PHP developer and technical support.

Required Skills

*PHP5 - experience with Object Orientated and MVC methodologies, with experience using CodeIgniter or equivalent framework
*MySQL - Modern database development expertise, not only in SQL, but database design and data normalisation
*XHTML/CSS/Javascript/AJAX - Expert level Javascript/XHTML/CSS development. jQuery experience preferred, along with jQuery UI
*Use of version control (SVN preferred) and Netbeans IDE
*Understanding of SEO (on-page and off-page) & PPC
*General IT support / IT training

Bonus Skills

*Use of Datamapper Object Relationship Manager (other ORM systems acceptable)
*XML parsing and API integration experience (Facebook, Twitter APIs)
*Understanding of key business functions (operational, financial, HR) such that user-experience can be considered when developing systems
