LOCATION: NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE
PACKAGE: £25-30K PLUS BENEFITS

The Role

We are looking to recruit an IT support technician to deal with typical 2nd line queries in a Microsoft desktop and server environment. You`ll be an all-rounder with knowledge of Windows Server (2008 & 2013), active directory and assumed TCP/IP based networking knowledge.
Based in Gateshead the role provides technical support to 3 sites and around 150 regional users for this FTSE listed multinational company.

Technical Requirements

Person Specification


Essential Skills
*Solid, 2nd line skills within a Microsoft bias technical support environment
*Windows Server Administration (2008 & 2012)
*Active Directory
*Microsoft Exchange
*Good understanding of TCP/IP Networking
*Support skills in Windows XP/7,
*MS Office based applications
*Strong interpersonal skills, and an ability to interact with people at all levels of the business.
*Experience in a hardware Break/Fix and Software environment
*Ability to support Desktops, Laptops, Various LaserJet/Inkjet Printers,
*An IT support background with at least 3 years' experience in a similar technical role.
*Excellent organisational skills, capable of prioritising workloads


Desirable Skills
*ITIL Foundation Level or above
*Microsoft Certified Professional or similar qualifications
*Avaya Vo/IP (Or other manufacturer IP Telephony)
*Nethelpdesk

Responsibilities


*All round technical support mainly aimed at 2nd line but with some 1st and 3rd line when required.
*To act as ICT ambassador for the department locally.
*Ensure sufficient information is gathered for fault finding and logging within the ITIL based ICT ticketing system.
*Liaise with 3rd party vendors or internal Specialist team to ensure a speedy resolution of issues/requests.
*Become involved in projects to transform and improve the business solutions provided as required.
*To carry out site surveys, site audits, installations, moves, disconnections and preventative maintenance schedules as required.
*Display a working understanding of the business environment, and appreciation of the business applications.
*Participation in the Out of Hours rota for Out of Hours support including weekends and UK bank holidays
