Field Operations Manager (Telecoms)

Oxford

£40K + £5K car allowance, 45p per mile, life insurance, 25 days holidays, Stakeholder pension, mobile laptop.

This is a great opportunity for a telecoms field operations manager from a telecoms background who has worked for organisation's such as Sky, Virgin Media or BT background to join a company which are growing at a rapid rate. Taking a lead part in setting up the department, creation of KPI's, recruitment and managing the field operations.

The role

You will first play a lead part in helping to set up the department by organising the purchase of kit, tools, and vans. You will work alongside the HR team to recruit a number of teams of skilled engineers to carry out the residential installations. You will play a lead part in designing KPI's to measure the performance of individual engineers and teams. You will compete appraisals and manage the development of all staff.
Management of a quality installation and fault repair service across the designated area, ensuring that the in-house team and external contract partners are delivering an excellent customer experience within agreed SLAs and performance standards.

Direct line management of a team of Access Field Technicians

Promotion of a quality approach to installations and fault repair through effective team management and influence on external contract partner


* Delivery of operational performance in line with agreed SLA/KPI's.

* Maintaining an awareness of jobs that have failed, investigating the
underlying reasons and putting in place actions to ensure effective resolution

* Effective relationship management with other functions within the Region and
in the wider business. Builds and maintains close working relationships to manage customer-affecting issues to resolution and ensure consistency in the customer experience.

* Ensuring in-house and contract employees demonstrate compliance with Health
& Safety management standards at all times, identifying and ensuring the delivery where appropriate of any training required for Health & Safety and Environment and NRSWA.

* Ensure that all in house technicians have a monthly 1 to 1 as part of the
Reach scheme, and that each has an agreed accreditation rating each month

* Implementation of all business policies and ensure all activities are
carried out in line with the Company Standard Operating Environment

* Ensuring all colleagues have an up to date awareness of performance
management KPIs and can use Company processes, procedures, systems and
services appropriately

* Demonstration of an understanding of workload forecasts to ensure best use
of available colleagues to meet anticipated workload

* Management of the operation within budget guidelines and contribution to the
budget forecast process

* Good analytical skills, and competent in the use of Microsoft packages at
'intermediate' level

* Able to work in a high pressure environment; with the ability to offer
solutions as well as identify problems

* Full clean driving licence required

* Able to lead, motivate and develop a team of field technicians/engineers

* Excellent customer focus required - previous experience of working in the field operations
environment

* Understands budget and finance management

The Candidate

The ideal candidate would have strong people management skills within a field based, KPI driven environment and you should be able to demonstrate clear examples about how you have coached, developed and inspired your team to improve the overall customer experience.

Working within the field operations group, you will be tasked with improving performance of customer service engineers in the field alongside contributing strategically to the development of business in the region.

You should have excellent time management skills, and have the ability to coach and develop principle engineers, allowing yourself to concentrate on performance improvement plans in the short, medium and long term. This ability to coach and improve senior engineers and groom them to be the managers of the future is a key aspect of the position, so we would be looking to speak with managers who can demonstrate the ability to delegate responsibility to colleagues which then in turn allows the manager to concentrate on tasks that are more strategically important than day to day operational firefighting.

This is a role for an excellent communicator, who is able to advise, lead and report to colleagues at different levels and we are certainly looking for a step up from a pure "People manager" as the business offers excellent opportunity for the right manager to progress in any one number of directions in the future, and we are looking for somebody who has the ability to offer a new dimension to the business. You should have the experience and acumen to quickly understand the day to day operational running of a region, before looking to implement process which will bring greater efficiencies and ultimately, improve the general customer experience.

The Client

The client are a rapidly growing ISP with one of the fastest broadband networks in the UK. The company have increased their workforce from single digit figures to over 100 staff in the space of a year and are expected to treble in size again over the next two years.
