3rd Line IT Support Technician

Opportunity
This is a great opportunity for a 3rd Line Support Technician, with in depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows server, Unix servers, network infrastructure and telephony systems, to join a market leading insurance company in their Sevenoaks IT department. Looking for somebody who is not only tech savvy but has worked within a corporate environment.

The Role
Acting as point of contact for a variety of incidents and service requests, the 3rd Line IT Support Technician will be responsible for ensuring that issues are resolved quickly and efficiently providing support and guidance. Maintaining infrastructures including hardware, networking, operating systems and application components whilst continually protecting the security and integrity of the company's systems. The role will include out of hours on call approximately 1 week in 3. The successful candidate will also have to travel to other sites in the UK on a regular basis.

Day to day responsibilities;
* Log, verify and update as necessary user profiles for incidents and service requests.
* Provide initial assessment, allocation and prioritisation for reported incidents/service requests.
* Compile data through incident entry that will be used for management information and reporting.
* Maintain ownership of the incidents through to resolution.
* Provide all facets of IT support concerning CIs in the IT infrastructure.
* Participate in planning, designing, developing and implementing CI's.
* Execute Change Requests in line with internal procedures.
* Provide on-site assistance during the installations or upgrades of hardware, software, and core applications at designated locations.

Technical skills:
* Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server (2008R2 and 2012) and Microsoft SQL Server.
* Strong TCP/IP based networking skills.
* Detailed knowledge of UNIX, Microsoft Exchange Server and desirable knowledge of Informix Dynamic Server.
* Microsoft Systems Centre, Microsoft Hyper-V and VM Ware.

The Candidate

Must be confident in working both independently and as part of a team whilst showing initiative to new or challenging issues.
