Position Summary

We are looking for a passionate software developer to work on an expanding team for a market leading software house in Sheffield. You`ll be working on a number of key projects, which will offer exposure to a range of disciplines and challenges.

The environment is principally Python based with a MySQL database and the role will be working within an existing team that is focused on delivering web portal / platform solutions across the UK and then internationally.

Key Functions

Web development project work, predominantly a range of web based software packages that interface with customer in-house systems. As part of the team, the role will encompass the full project life cycle, including analysis and design, implementation and testing, and ongoing operation and maintenance. Production of comprehensive documentation of the projects will also form part of the role.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

* Knowledge of fundamental web technologies is assumed.

* You will need core experience in CSS/HTML, Unit Testing, Build Automation and Version Control (ideally Git), with a solid track record of Python - ideally 2.6/3.4

* Javascript/jQuery/Ajax/REACT

* Some database administration experience desirable, preferably MySQL.


Education & Experience

* Degree level education in a technical, media or business IT domain desirable, but not pre-requisite.
* 12 months+ experience in web development and/or web design.
* A portfolio of previous work will be expected.

Work Environment

The role is desk-based in Sheffield, with little requirement for off-site travel. The role is part of a forward-thinking, award winning, market leading dynamic technology company, and it is expected that the candidate will have a great deal of scope in shaping the online offerings going forward.

The environment is challenging and stimulating, and very open to new ideas. This is a permanent role, which will report to software development manager and technical director.
