Package: £30,000-£45,000

Position Summary

We are looking for a passionate web developer to work on an expanding team for a market leading software house in Sheffield. You`ll be working on a number of key projects, which will offer exposure to a range of disciplines and challenges.

The role is principally aimed at JavaScript based technologies and the role will be working within an existing team that is focused on delivering web portal / platform solutions across the UK and then internationally.

Environment is fluent and certainly not rigid and you'll have a real chance to influence how this will be done moving forward, and learn a range of new technologies, such as Python.

We've got a few development positions open on the team, so happy to speak with candidates ranging from 12 months commercial through to mid-range and senior.

Key Functions

Web development project work, predominantly a range of web based software packages that interface with customer in-house systems. As part of the team, the role will encompass the full project life cycle, including analysis and design, implementation and testing, and ongoing operation and maintenance. Production of comprehensive documentation of the projects will also form part of the role. Project work will include the design and development of a new of new JavaScript based front ends to interact with Python and MySQL back end - this is a number of projects due to the range of software products in the company portfolio but you'll engage alongside the existing in house team, and likely some external 3rd parties.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

* Knowledge of fundamental web technologies is assumed.

* Knowledge of JavaScript, CSS, Bootstrap (or other CSS framework), jQuery, Ajax and MySQL

* REACT or Angular would be a huge advantage but is not essential.

* Some database administration experience desirable, preferably MySQL.

* Any Python or Perl exposure a bonus, but is not needed.


Education & Experience

* Degree level education in a technical, media or business IT domain desirable, but not pre-requisite.
* 12 months+ experience in web development and/or web design.
* A portfolio of previous work will be expected.

Work Environment

The role is desk-based in Sheffield, with little requirement for off-site travel. The role is part of a forward-thinking, award winning, market leading dynamic technology company, and it is expected that the candidate will have a great deal of scope in shaping the online offerings going forward.

The environment is challenging and stimulating, and very open to new ideas. This is a permanent role, which will report to software development manager and technical director.
