The Opportunity

This is a great opportunity to join a leading logistics and transport services provider, who are committed to the career progression and development of their staff. This role has arisen due to an internal promotion.

The Role.

This is an office based role where you will be responsible for the logistics and co-ordination planning of deliveries to a leading Bluechip companies in the automotive/medical. This role works extremely closely with customers / suppliers to ensure accurate "just in time" deliveries of component parts to the manufacturing plants. You will be keeping track of inventory deliveries and then updating delivery schedules.
You will be required to using an advanced, bespoke, logistics scheduling system package based around Paragon to schedule deliveries while also updating and manipulating excel spread sheets to ensure any absenteeism, inventory or delays in supply are managed. You will be in regular contact with clients to manage any changes or disruptions and update software accordingly.
You will be responsible for ensuring drivers schedules adhere to transport legislation to ensure hours on the road do not exceed the limits that have been set. You will be responsible for any other duties which are deemed necessary during the working week. The role involves some shift work so it is important that you are comfortable with this.


The candidate

The ideal candidate for this role will have previously worked as a logistics planner for an automotive or transport haulage company in the past. We are looking for candidates with advanced Excel spread sheet manipulation skills who have ideally worked with both Paragon and SAP previously. We are looking for candidates who are extremely organised, possess strong analytical skills and have excellent communication skills. Candidates with exposure and/or experience of logistics planning are strongly encouraged to apply.
Candidates should have a strong background in planning and be able to think quickly on their feet to solve any issues that may occur.
Candidates will ideally have a knowledge of transport legislation in relation to driver's hours on the road, although if candidates lack experience there are opportunities for training. This is a highly KPI/SLA driven role and it is expected that the chosen candidate will be able to show how they have achieved targets set for them in the past.
Candidates with a level of education in relation to logistics and planning will be warmly received but is has been suggested that hands on experience will be vital to be successful in this role.
