This role is based in Peterborough but flexibility would be needed to attend customer site as and when required.

Our client, a national telecommunications company is looking to recruit an experienced programme manager, ideally with a proven track record of success working for either a telecoms company or ISP. This role is based in Peterborough but flexibility would be needed to attend customer site as and when required.


Department Overview

Key interfaces for the role would be the voice & data bias Project Management team and also the Business Provisioning and Access Planning groups.

This role is part of the business group within the organisation and you will be playing a key part in the delivery of voice and data projects so a technical grounding in those areas is assumed.

Principle Responsibilities

* To take total accountability for planning, structuring, leading and executing the largest Business projects or programmes of high risk and complexity.
Responsible for managing the programme team consisting of project and technical management, business and financial controllers and associated virtual interface teams.
* Additional key responsibility as customer programme lead managing all customer interfaces to programme.
* Manage the programme's budget, monitoring the expenditures and costs against delivered and realised benefits as the programme progresses.
* Plan and manage the programme, monitoring its overall progress, resolving issues and initiating corrective action as appropriate.
* Management and analysis of issues.
* Build, manage and motivate the Programme team.
* Ensure the delivery of new products or services from the projects is to the appropriate levels of quality, on time and within budget, in accordance with the programme plan.
* Be responsible for the quality assurance and overall integrity of the programme.
* Manage third party contributions to the programme as appropriate.
* Communicate with all stakeholders.
* Manage both the dependencies and the interfaces between projects.
* Manage the risks to the programme's successful outcome.
* Report progress of the programme at regular intervals to the programme director and programme board.

Required Experience

* Substantial experience in Project / Programme Management using leading methodologies and processes.
* Experience of managing multiple parties including Senior Project Managers and third party vendors on high profile and technologically innovative enterprise solutions
* The ability to manage large (sometimes virtual) teams across multiple locations
* Degree level education with first or second class accreditation in relevant business discipline or equivalent.
* Prince 2, MoR and MSP level training or equivalent. Conversant with MS Project (plus all MS applications).
* Understand budgetary control and resource allocation procedures (qualification or training an advantage).
* Ability to create a sense of community amongst the disparate members of the programme teams.

This is a 12 month, fixed term PAYE contract with a good chance for permanent employment.
